Custom Aura Portrait

Aura portraits are edgy, moody, expressive, and fun. I've developed a style where I outline each figure in acrylic wash which creates an aura effect. This is for mood and atmosphere and not a literal aura reading.

The process works best when the reference photo is clear, interesting, and well-composed. My portraits are usually from the shoulders up. I can do full body sketches, but they will have very little detail in the face. Pets portraits are welcome and encouraged! Maximum of two subjects (people and pets) per piece.

I never work from a grid, trace, or use an app to assist. I draw simply by looking at your photo. This means that the proportions might be slightly off. You can see the struggle to get to the image on the page. These pieces become not only a portrait of the subject, but a window into the physical experience and process of creating the image. Imperfection is a feature, not a flaw.

Archival and/or lightfast materials are used: 9" x 12" Arches watercolor paper, Uniball pen, and acrylic wash.

Your piece will not be an exact recreation of the detail, scale, and composition of your reference photo. A prop or two in the foreground is fine if that's what you'd like, but some background details might be excluded if that's what's best for the piece.

After you purchase, you'll receive a form via email and answer a few questions, attach your photo(s), and suggest a color scheme. Pieces will be completed and shipped out within 3-4 days of purchase and completion of the request form.

I truly intend to delight every customer. With that said, since everything is custom-made just for you, there are no returns or exchanges. I will make exceptions to this policy on a case-by-case basis at my sole discretion.

It's more fun when your piece is a surprise, but you can request a photo before it arrives if necessary. Please note that revisions are not included or guaranteed.
